Orientations

What are Orientations? Every time you complete a module, you will be required to attend an in-person orientation for that module. These orientations consist of in-person walkthroughs and guides on using one of the machines.

Where & When do Orientations take place? Scheduling varies depending on the modules. For both scheduled orientations or drop-ins, you will need to go to BE-51. More information regarding specific module orientation schedules is displayed in our Canvas course.

Why do I need to do Orientations? These Orientations ensure that you are prepared to use the machines safely and effectively. As it is the last step of your certification, not attending means no certification, meaning you are not allowed to use the space.

Certifications

What are Certifications? When you complete important modules in our Canvas course, including orientations, you get a certification in the form of badges. These badges let us know you’re able to use the space.

Where can I see my badges? You can look at all the badges you have on our Canvas in the section titled “Badges.” When you successfully complete a module and orientation, you will also get an email verification.

Why should I get Certified? Getting certified is required to have space access. Above getting access to our tools and space, you also learn key technical and safety skills. You also get to be a part of a welcoming and diverse community of makers!
